I needed to go out of my scifi comfort zone and since Redshift is going to a customer-hostile subscription model after it was taken over by Darth Maxon, I wanted to revisit Octane. Their licensing technology still is evil and compared to Redshift Octane still is awfully slow, but I was able to reshader a scene included with C4D in no time, getting the photorealitic results I was never able to reach in Redshift.
